Certificato successorio europeo

Introduced by Regulation (EU) No 650/2012 on matters of succession, the European Certificate of Succession is a document issued in an EU Member State that is meant to be used by heirs, legatees and executors of wills who need to invoke their status or to exercise their rights, or powers, in another Member State.

In 2023, the Institute of International Studies launched a website concerning the European Certificate of Succession and, more broadly, Regulation (EU) No 650/2012, designed to serve as a training tool for practitioners and as a repository of documents for scholars. The website collects legal scholarship and case law concerning the Regulation and includes links to specialised websites and databases. It also offers answers to frequently asked questions.

The website can be accessed at this address.
